BIG Award for Excellence in Challenging Bullying

15th January 2018

Bullying can be an issue for any school or setting.  Villa Real School does not have a problem with bullying, but they have systems in place to ensure that their students can learn in a happy and caring environment.  They have a focus group which includes students who meet each term to form anti-bullying action plans.  Their staff are trained in safeguarding and anti-bullying, they have assemblies and lessons which address the issue.  They have also recently formed the Thumbs Up Squad who are being trained to look out for any younger pupils who may feel sad and to alert staff to any issues they feel need to be addressed.  Villa Real has wonderful staff who do a fantastic job, and I am delighted that they have now achieved the BIG Award for Excellence in Challenging Bullying.  Val McFarlane, Director, BIG Award, Training and Resources.

Harvest Celebration

10th October 2017

We would like to invite you to our Harvest Celebration on Friday October 20th at 10am. This year our theme is butterflies. We are raising money to help to protect the Duke of Burgundy butterfly, one of Britain’s rarest butterflies.  We are collecting the old style round pound coins which are no longer useable from next week. Butterfly Conservation are going to recycle them and use the proceeds to help the Duke of Burgundy.

We will also be supporting the Consett Food Bank, so if you would like to send in any tinned or packet food, fruit or vegetables, or any old style pound coins they would be gratefully received. Please could these be sent in to school on Thursday October 19th. Thank you.

School Leavers 2018 Informal meeting

25th September 2017

There will be an informal meeting on Thursday October 12th for those who have a child leaving Villa Real School next summer (2018).  This will be an opportunity to have a cup of coffee or tea, have a chat to other parents and to ask any questions that you might have.  Jill Hedley from the Improving Progressions Team will also be attending.  The kettle will be on from 1.30pm!
